Rights & Justice Centre

Friends of the Earth's legal team, the Rights & Justice Centre, runs a free advice line to help people with environmental law matters. Public authorities are constantly making decisions that affect local communities. They can be anything from granting permission for big roads to refusing to take action against polluters. If you want help with a legal challenge or want to know your rights, they will give you professional legal advice over the phone. The advice line is open from 6.30-8.30 pm on Wednesdays, and from 11am-2pm on Thursdays. Calls are free from landlines and from the mobile networks Orange, Virgin, Vodafone, T-mobile and 3. The advice line is staffed by legal volunteers supervised by lawyers from the Rights & Justice Centre. Most of the advice is given immediately, over the phone, but the Centre takes on a few public interest legal cases every year.
