Fordhall Organic Farm

Description

The Fordhall Community Land Initiative (FCLI) is a social enterprise owned and run by 8,000 non-profit making shareholders. It owns Fordhall Organic Farm, utilising it to reconnect the community to food and farming through events, volunteering and educational activities. The FCLI leases the farm land to a tenant farmer, Ben Hollins. Like any other tenant farmer, Ben manages the land, livestock and farm shop with his own staff and pays a monthly rent to the FCLI. What could be simpler?

Hackney City Farm

Description

Exists to bring the countryside and its activities to urban people, generally using otherwise derelict land and involving local people in their establishment and maintenance. The farm is a registered charity and was established in 1984 on 1.5 acres of land and buildings. Chagford Community Farm CIC

Chagfarm aims to make the local community's food supply more resilient by working closely with Chagfood, another local food enterprise, and complementing their existing vegetable subscription offer. WEA Greening Wingrove Project

The WEA Greening Wingrove Project is a community partnership, with the aim to support the people of Wingrove, Newcastle upon Tyne to live sustainably through growing, recycling and saving energy - helped by BIG Lottery's Communities Living Sustainably Fund.

The Greening Wingrove scheme will find practical ways to deal with the impact of climate change on a local level, such as:

  • Home insulation, collective buying of electricity and gas;

Vegan Society

Educational charity promoting ways of living free from animal products for the benefit of people, animals and the environment. London Vegans

Description

Exists to promote veganism in the London area, with regular monthly meetings and other social events such as restaurant trips and walks. Produces The London Vegan Diary listing social and campaigning events. Also operates information stalls at various fetes. Regular meetings at 6.30pm on last Wednesday of every month (except December) at the Millman Street Community Rooms, Millman Street, WC1 (entrance through security doorway adjacent to 38a). There is a small admission charge to cover costs.

Stepney City Farm

We are a working farm in Tower Hamlets; one of the most deprived and densely-populated boroughs in England. We use sustainable agricultural practice to produce safe and healthy food and other products.
