Manchester Environmental Resource Centre initiative (MERCi)

Description

MERCi runs many projects that are helping to deliver a sustainable future. We began by buying a semi-derelict silk mill in Ancoats and restoring it into Bridge 5 Mill. The Mill now hosts other organisations working for sustainability and social justice and is also Manchester's most sustainable conference venue.

One World Centre

Description

Library and information centre on global issues and sustainable development, as well as trade justice, aid, debt, rights and responsibilities. Provides a resource provision for schools, youth groups and general community (activity packs, photopacks, posters, videos, CDs and games) aimed at raising awareness of global citizenship.

The One World Centre is part of the International Development Education Association of Scotland (IDEAS) – a network of organisations and individuals involved in Development Education and Education for Global Citizenship across Scotland.

Low Bank Ground & Hinning House

Low Bank Ground and Hinning House are Wigan Council’s Outdoor Education Centres in the Lake District, managed on behalf of the Council by the Brathay Trust. Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre

Description

Woodbrooke is Europe's only Quaker Study Centre, offering adult education since 1903, set in organic gardens, which supply some of the food served to guests.

Findhorn Foundation

Description

The Findhorn Foundation is a unique spiritual community, education centre and ecovillage, helping to bring new consciousness to everyday life and create a positive and sustainable future. Our Visitor Centre is open daily throughout the year, offering tours of the ecovillage most days. Innovative buildings co-exist with beautiful gardens, a wind park and an eco-waste treatment plant. Kingston Environment Centre

Description

Kingston Environment Centre is currently run on a voluntary basis and informal callers are welcome to the centre on Friday afternoons when we also have volunteer workshop sessions.

We offer meeting and workshop space, a small kitchen, office resources and a backyard to all kinds of environmental groups based in the borough of Kingston. Leaflets and notices about environmental work are on display and there is a growing resource of environmental information of all kinds.
