• The Ethicurean

The Ethicurean is founded on a sense of place. This is the idea of having a connection with the native land, its history and the community who grow food locally upon it. Our family team seek to discover harmonious pairings between the ingredients that surround the walled garden. At the Ethicurean, we are proud of our food principles. Our fantastically supportive customer base who visit all year round often concur heartily. Purveyors of entirely seasonal, local and ethical British produce, all meats are from free range livestock or wild. Our fish is responsibly sourced. We are also supporters of organic agriculture, fair trade and Rainforest Alliance. We produce natural apple juice from our unsprayed orchards. The Ethicurean strive to look for alternatives to all imported fresh produce and constantly look as close to our home for the best ingredients which are often foraged or shot a stones throw from our walls or grown within. Mark Cox is the gardener at Barley Wood. He is a one-man band with an incredible passion for Heritage and Heirloom vegetables. Our menu changes twice daily. Look online for an example menu.

None of our products are airfreighted. You can choose from:

a selection of box types and sizes
exclusively local produce or from slightly further-a-field
Monthly, fortnightly, or weekly deliveries
Vary your order whenever you need to.
We’re a not-for-profit organisation, investing income from our box and wholesale business into our other activities. The money we make goes into making educational and community activities happen: children’s farm visits, community events, activities for disadvantaged members of our community and opportunities for learning about farming and food. We are of and for the community. The Community Farm is a member-owned community benefit society with 500 members and share-holders.
