The Wild Meat Company sources and sells online venison, game birds, rabbit and even squirrel entirely from farms and estates in east Suffolk. It has recently also started cutting and marketing local farm breeds from the farms which supply the game.
Established in 1999 by Robert Gooch and Paul Denny, the website www.wildmeat.co.uk takes the muck and mystery out of buying, preparing and eating game. Since then the company has been named as one of Rick Stein’s Food Heroes and highly praised by The Hairy Bikers and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.
All our game birds and animals are harvested (normally shot) locally (the exception is wild boar). Being close to the coast we are fortunate in having a large number of migratory birds such as wild duck and woodcock.
The meat is delivered in an insulated box with ice packs to keep the meat at fridge temperature (between 4 and 7ºC). The vast majority of deliveries are sent in a card board box with a wool liner inside; both box and liner can be recycled.
